Issue

• How to scale down ROSA HCP worker nodes to zero?
• Is it supported to have zero worker nodes in the ROSA HCP cluster?
• Is it possible to scale down all existing machine pools to zero replicas in the ROSA HCP cluster?

Resolution

• Currently, it is not possible to have zero worker nodes in ROSA HCP. It is necessary to have a minimum of two worker nodes in the ROSA HCP cluster.

Root Cause

• ROSA with HCP requires only a minimum of two nodes making it ideal for smaller projects while still being able to scale to support larger projects and enterprises.

Diagnostic Steps

• Check the worker node count in the cluster.
